You Are Not Behind
In the same night I had one person ask me if I had any kids, another person wish me luck on my first job out of college, and another person, after finding out I have a house with two cats, tell me that they hope I don’t become one of those cat ladies (oops, #toolate).
So here’s the thing, people are often going to have an opinion on where they think you should be in life. Most of the time, that opinion is formed without even knowing where you actually are or where you want to be in life. They may have no intent other than curiosity, but if you read into these questions too much, it can have an effect on how you think your life is actually going.
Here's another example of this:
If you’re single: people are going to ask when you are going to start dating someone.
If you’re dating someone: people are going to ask when you’re getting engaged.
If you’re engaged: people are going to ask you when you’re getting married.
If you’re married: people are going to ask when you’re going to have kids.
If you have kids: people are going to ask when the grandkids are coming.
This doesn't stop whatever chapter you are currently living in life. People are going to ask you, and I'm here to tell ya it's totally okay if you don't have the answer that they are wanting to hear.
You don't have to listen to where others think you should be. It really only matters where YOU want to be. Have confidence in that. You can still enjoy where you're at while on the way to where you're going.
The moment you start worrying about what others think of you is the moment you stop living your best life and utilizing your best talents and opportunities.
You are not behind. You are right where you are supposed to be regardless of where others think, "you should be." It really only matters where YOU want to be. Have confidence in that. That's all.
