One Step at a Time: Here’s to Making Big Decisions and Starting Over

At the end of the 2022, I made a big decision. After 9 years of living and working in Phoenix, Arizona, I was going to make the official move back to my home state of New Mexico.

When God tells you it is time to go, it is time to go.

I honestly had very little figured out. I knew where I was going to live, but I wasn’t sure exactly when I was going to live there, where I was going to work, or honestly how everything was going to play out in general.

But I knew I had to do it, and that God was going to weave every fragmented piece that I had figured out (or hadn’t figured out) together.

And He did.

Even better than I could have ever imagined. He found me an amazing job, my condo in Phoenix sold quickly, and so many other little pieces that are involved in moving came together. I just needed to trust Him, day by day, in every step of His timeline.

It was not as easy as it sounds, especially for a planner like me!

Patience with yourself is often a part of the progress.

I have now been back in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico for almost three months. Every season, I learn how impatient I can be. In this season, I am re-learning patience with myself is a part of the progress.

I always find myself so badly wanting everything to come together right now. Like having my home put together the exact way I want it. When in reality, I still need to buy a couch. Yet, I keep reminding myself that a lot has happened in the past six months and I have already come so far since then.

And I’m learning that I don’t need to have it all put together, all at once, and all right now. It’s okay to just take it one day at a time. So, I can give myself some grace for not having the perfect couch picked out yet.

You take one step a day towards your big vision, and soon enough, you’ll be able to look back and see how far you really have come. That’s all.
