Foster Arizona's 2nd Annual Cultivating Hope Fundraising Gala

Last night, I attended the Annual Foster Arizona Gala for the first time. The night was so incredibly special for several reasons:

  • Foster care and adoption are causes that are extremely close to my heart. My passion for both has been a journey in itself that has now taken a new form as I recently became involved with the organization, Foster Arizona. Foster Arizona is dedicated to collaborating with the community to educate, empower, and provide resources to foster kids of all ages and support those who share a passion for action in this cause. From housing needs for children aging out to resources for foster parents to special events and mentoring for children in group homes, Foster Arizona is the type of organization that sees the needs in the foster system, and then finds a way to fill it — SO AWESOME.

  • The event was a beautiful night of sharing on what Foster Arizona has been up to since its inception and the stories of the lives that have been impacted thus far. A lot of emotion and passion filled the room as so many were gathered because of a shared purpose of changing the lives of those in the foster system.

  • Foster Arizona’s 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala was the FIRST ever sponsorship given by my blog/brand, Discovering Daly! And this is only just the beginning!

  • I shared this special night with my beautiful Momma — which was emotional, beautiful, and cool for a lot of reasons. Also, we all know that moms always make the best date!

Moms always make the BEST DATE!

Moms always make the BEST DATE!

Now, I want to take a moment to share with you some stats that were presented at the event: In Arizona, there are 15,000 kids in the foster system, 2,000 kids waiting to be adopted, and 900 kids that will age out of the system this year. Many of the kids aging out end up homeless or inadequately prepared to take on life as an adult. In fact, 70% of people in prisons were in the foster system at some point. After reading these numbers, you are probably discouraged or overwhelmed and think there’s nothing you can do about this.

BUT there IS so much you CAN do. Just by reading this post alone, you are already being educated on the ongoing local and global crisis of many children not knowing that they are worthy of love, acceptance, and a home.

I’ll end with this: If you ever feel compelled to get involved with foster care in Arizona, please feel free to send me a message and I would be so happy to get you connected in some way! You can also find out more about the works of Foster Arizona by visiting fosterarizona.org! Because of Foster Arizona and organizations like it, the stats I mentioned are dropping and foster kids lives are CHANGING. However, there is still SO much work to be done, and SO much that YOU can be a part of.

SOOOO much thanks to Michelle (on the left) for connecting me with Kim/Foster Arizona!
